Our Activities
Buddhist Cultural and Welfare Society
Journal Publishing
‘Baudhha Puratatwa’ is the pride of our society. It is enriched with valuable writings on Buddhist architecture, art, literature, culture, and especially archaeology, contributed by professors, researchers, students, teachers, and writers from various colleges and universities. Published annually, the journal has already gained significant recognition among the intellectual community. The fourth issue of the journal has been released and has successfully garnered popularity among readers. We hope that the journal will continue to grow and achieve even greater heights in the future.
Drawing School
Every Sunday, we conduct a free drawing school at Boadungri Primary School, Purulia. Over 50 children from classes attend these sessions. This school play a vital role in discovering their artistic talents. This initiative aims to nurture their imagination and self-expression, cultivating a love for art and education in a supportive environment.
Cloth Distribution
Clothing is a basic need that provides people with respect and dignity. In some rural areas of West Bengal, many underprivileged individuals struggle to afford regular clothes due to their financial constraints. To address this, we organize clothing distribution programs to meet their needs and uplift their confidence. Since 2019, the society has been organising cloth distribution programs among the marginalised tribals in underserved areas of Purulia. We provide clean, wearable clothes. It’s heartwarming to witness their smiles and receive their blessings for our efforts and inspiring to continue our work.
Study-related Item Distribution
Education is a powerful weapon that can help overcome the challenges of life. It is a fundamental child right in our nation and the key that unlocks the door to a brighter future. We believe that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their financial background. With a strong belief in equal opportunities, we offer free study materials to bridge the gap between financial limitations and quality education. Our main goal is to pave the way for these deserving children to unlock their full potential and create a better tomorrow.
Participation in Book Fairs and Little Magazine Fairs
One of the key activities of our society is participating in book fairs and little magazine fairs held throughout the year in Kolkata and its surrounding districts of Howrah, Hooghly, and North 24 Parganas. In these fairs, we present the ‘Baudhha Puratatwa’ magazine along with various books related to Buddhism, literature, and culture. At the stall, discussions are held where general readers and enthusiasts ask questions and engage in conversations about Buddhist religion and culture. This helps in promoting the understanding of Buddhism and culture among the general public. Additionally, efforts are made to raise awareness about the proper preservation of neglected archaeological sites in various regions.
Archaeological Site Visit
Our country is a treasure trove of archaeological wonders. And we are passionate about preserving them. So, we conduct archaeological site visits across India. During these visits, we meet with the site conservation officers to discuss the current condition of the archaeological site and any necessary steps that need to be taken. We also gather the opinions of local people. Strong measures are taken to ensure the proper preservation of the site. It is absolutely essential that, in the future, we take up some initiatives for the continued protection and promotion of these sites.
